Mark Berland is a powerful, dynamic, mystical, profound, comical, musical, and artistic experience.  In the past, he has met the likes of Frank Zappa, Boz Scaggs, Steven Tyler, and listened in on a Paul Simon rehearsal. At one time he was set to meet the legendary producer John Hammond, who had discovered Billy Holiday and Bob Dylan, but health concerns of Mr.Hammond dissolved the meeting. He has played venues such as The Bitter End in NYC, The Troubadour in LA, Passims in Cambridge, as well as numerous radio shows  in NYC, San Francisco and Boston. He has also performed his works with students of Berklee College of Music and The New England  Conservatory. He is long time friends with Greg Chansky  who wrote songs performed by Richie Havens and

Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary is his biggest fan.

In the old days, he was considered by ECM Records, but private concerns pulled him in a different direction.  He has played the guitar in several hundreds of alternative tunings, that he discovered through dreams and experimentation. He currently has one CD out titled, "The Guitarist's Apprentice", where he plays solo guitar, that often sounds like two guitars and is interpreted as other instruments such as the harp, the

oud and the sitar.  The Guitarist's Apprentice stretches beyond the borders of China, Japan, India, Arabia as well as meditative and jazz forms.  Mark Berland has a reservoir of creativity through a rich and eclectic inner muse.

Over the last 15 years he has recorded 80 songs at Daniel Cantor's "Notable Productions" (Notable.com) in Watertown, MA.  Ten songs are ready to go and will to be available by the end of winter 2025. The songs cover blues, folk, rock, reggae and rap. You will hear love, comedy, political, and environmental concerns sung like no other person out there. Currently, you can find two songs on You Tube:  "Pistachio Eyes" and "The Mom Song"  on You Tube.

Interestingly,  Mr.  Berland has been an alternative medicine practitioner for over 40 years.  The current state of the world has made freedom of expression of the utmost importance.  Mark recognizes music as a force for good and feels now is the time to keep the dream alive.
